Located just one hour north of Santa Barbara, Jalama Cañon Ranch and Vineyard is hidden amongst the hills of Santa Barbara County, just 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Boasting breathtaking views and quiet peacefulness, this historic property's scenery and surroundings are reminiscent of a turn of the century cattle ranch. In 2004, the 1,000-acre property was purchased by business partners Wayne Siemens and David Grotenhuis, whose families have called Santa Barbara home for more than 50 years.
In 2008, they planted five acres of Pinot Noir and half an acre of Chardonnay on a steep, southeasterly-facing hillside. Although the weather is cooler and sometimes harsher than the nearby Sta. Rita Hills, JCR Vineyard is sheltered from strong coastal winds, allowing for ideal growing conditions for the cool climate grapes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
First harvested in 2010, JCR Vineyard focuses on producing small-lot, 100% estate wines that showcase the character of our unique vineyard site.
